Tisanes, the “non-tea”.

Tisanes, the "non-tea".

ti·sane
pronounced "tiˈzan" or "tiˈzän"

A tisane is any mixture of fruits, herbs, spices, seeds or any plant material other than the tea leaf Camillia sinensis. Technically, tisanes are not considered tea. "Teas" such as black tea, green tea, white tea, oolong, yellow tea, pu-erh tea are all made from variations of growing conditions and processing techniques of the leaves from the Camillia sinensis plant. Tisanes are well known for their soothing and therapeutic properties, which are highly variable according to the concoction blended. Tisanes are naturally caffeine free and are high in vitamins and minerals.
